The Clarion Area Trail Town Co-op is a group of volunteers whose purpose it is to coordinate efforts between Clarion and surrounding communities in order to promote tourism.
The Co-op’s first step in accomplishing this goal was to establish a visitor center. The space was donated by the Clarion County Historical Society and is located in their office at 14 Fifth Avenue in Clarion, PA. The Center encourages and accepts advertising and information from Clarion and neighboring communities at no charge.
The Co-op has worked with Clarion businesses to purchase bicycle racks. These bicycle racks have been installed on Main Street in the Clarion Bourough. They also plan to purchase bicycle racks for the Clarion Library and Memorial Park. The Co-op holds regional Trail Town meetings that include New Bethlehem, Foxburg, Brookville, and Sligo. These meetings are held to encourage and coordinate tourism and activities among these local communities.
The future of the Co-op holds a lot of exciting new ventures as it begins to to initiate recreational activities, which will utilize the beautiful and abundant natural resources in the area. These activities will be for the enjoyment of tourists and community members alike.
Student and community volunteers are needed and welcomed by the organization. Those interested can stop by the Clarion Area Visitor Center at 14 Fifth Avenue in Clarion, Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., call Zeller’s Music Stand at 814-220-0034, or e-mail Board President, Mary Zeller, at [email protected]
